Hi there! We're a group of passionate debaters who started this page in 2023 to increase accessibility to debate. Till this date, the amount of resources each school have for their young aspiring debaters remains vastly different, and we hope that by sharing our expertise, we can close this gap and give back to the wider debating community. Founder & Director of Curriculum

Bai Ruotong

Ruotong previously served as the Head of Hwa Chong Debates and Tournament Director of Hwa Chong British Parliamentaries. Unlike many in the circuit, she also has a profound appreciation for STEM and spends half her holidays in the lab.

Publicity Lead

Yuen Qin Yu

Qin Yu was a breaking adjudicator for Singapore at Eurasian Schools Debating Championships. She is also experienced in primary school debating, having previously served as the Chair Adjudicator at Wits&Words and coached several schools.

Chan Yan

Chan Yan is the current Head of Hwa Chong Debates and has been actively debating since primary school, representing Nanyang Girls' High School twice in SSSDC. She has a passion for teaching children (maybe because she has a younger sister)

Charmaine Tan

Charmaine previously served as the Vice-President of Nanyang Debate Club. She has judged in renowned competitions like RI U-14s and coached students from First Toa Payoh Primary School. She is an avid film lover who watches movies every weekend.

Our Debating Experience

Our team comprises of seasoned debaters who have gone on to represent both the school and the nation. Our notable achievements include:

Competing under the auspices of Team Singapore at international tournaments such as EurOpens, Winter Holiday Opens, etc.
Emerging as Top Teams in National Tournaments such as the MOE-ACJC Intercollegiate Debating Championships (1st Runner-up), etc.
Ranking as Top Speakers in National Tournaments
Selected for the National Development Team
